As summer comes to a close, the Contractor's are working to get all the finished surfaces straight and smooth and ready for paint. The engineered floor is going in and the cabinetry and millwork is not far behind. Stay tuned as we are about to see a dramatic transformation as the living spaces emerge.

The balconettes are welded up and being painted.  GSDS is assisting Macaro Iron Works with the shop drawings for the ornamental aluminum railings on the Wyandanch Rising project, a mixed income, transit oriented community developed by The Albanese Organization which is currently in construction.  The railings are receiving a spray applied, black, 3 mil thick polyester powder coating by Tiger Drylac.

Trim, doors, and....the porches!

This week, George and his folk installed the Weathershield doors and got most of the Fypon closed cell polyurethane foam trim around all the windows. Molded  millwork is a great choice for exterior trim because of its resistance to rot, mildew, insect and weathering damage, not to mention it looks great!  That porch is going to have a great view of the Hudson River and the New NY Bridge. Keep up the good work.

Let There Be Light!

George and his crew have done a great job getting the Weathershield Aspire Series windows fastened in and flashed.  The residence is fitted with black, vinyl clad double hung and round  insulated glazing units each having a u-factor of .29, a low-emissivity coating and an inert gas filled chamber with low conductive spacers.  These windows will reduce solar gain and keep the family cool in the summer and toasty in the winter while maintaining reasonable energy demand for the home.  Also of importance is the exterior trim design which the Contractor has "mocked-up" for Owner approval.

The mansard is taking shape!  O'Reilly Contracting is hard at work in the cold getting the house closed in for the winter season.  The Huber Zip System has gone up quickly and seamlessly thanks to this streamlined wall sheathing system with an integrated vapor retarder and air barrier.
